19. Get Up to Get Down

An intro to the art of the B-Boy (aka breakdancing). Learn the essentials: how to dance on your hands, feet, back, elbows, etc. Wear loose, comfortable clothes and be ready to challenge your self! Presenter: B-boy Riff Raff (a.k.a.   James Giroux )

20. Indoor Rock Climbing

When technique and grace mean more than muscle.   Learn climbing and belaying skills on the Maine Rock Gym's 25 foot high climbing walls. Emphasis will be on technique and balance, as well as having fun. (Required parental permission/waiver) Presenter: Keith Morris, Maine Rock Gym

21. Hip Hop 101

A brief history of hip hop and a look at the culture's influence on today's image of masculinity, followed by a writing and recording session. Presenter: Joe Kosnow

22. Get the Edge on Power and Performance

Focus will be on different types of fitness training dependant on individual's goals.   There will be discussion on food choices that will assist in your training to be at your best.   The session will be hands-on, activity based.   Boys are encouraged to come ready for movement-agilities, speed work, jumping, etc. and to engage in discussion of how to supplement the body with the right food.   Presenter: Dawn Strout, M.Ed., CSCS

23. Knit a Hat

In the cozy setting of the shop, participants will select yarn, be given an instructor and taught to knit a hat.   Presenter:   Rhonda Vosmus, Central Yarn Shop

24. Improv-o-rama

Contrary to public opinion, anyone can "improvise" (not just the guys on "Who's Line Is It Anyways").   It's simply a matter of relaxing and allowing yourself to express the obvious! This workshop offers a potpourri of "improv" games that guarantee boys and their mentors a good time while making improv easy.   Try It! It's a Kick! 25. Basic Fly Tying

Instructor will provide fly tying instruction where students will learn how to tie basic fly patterns.   The skills they learn will provide a solid foundation and can be applied to many different fly patterns.   Presenter: Rod McGarry, LL Bean

26. Photography

Investigate photography basics and create black & white polaroids using a pinhole camera made from a cookie tin! This exciting workshop will be taught by members of the Bakery Photo Collective in Westbrook. Presenter: Tanja Hollander and Jack Nordby

27. Meet Your Bike: Bicycle Care, Feeding and Tuning

An intro to the parts inside of your bike that you can't usually see. Also includes how to fix and adjust mountain bike shifting systems. Presenter:  Erik West, The Bicycle Workshop

28. Poetry and Hip Hop

Write poetry with a beat. This workshop will explore connections between poetry and hip hop music. Participants will write, rehearse and perform their own rap, song, or spoken word piece. Presenters: Saiyid Brent and Chiara Liberatore

29. T'ai Chi: Gentle and Strong

In T'ai Chi Ch'uan (Taijiquan) we aspire to have the "gentleness of a newborn child, the strength of a lumberjack and the wisdom of a sage." Tn this workshop we will explore was to increase our flexibility and strength, as well as our ability of yield and be grounded. Like the T'ai Chi master, we will discover how to become gentle, strong and wise. Presenter: Larry Landau

Ultimate Frisbee is the up-and-coming sport that combines "speed, grace and powerful hurling with a grueling pace." Come learn how to play in this exciting, fast-paced workshop. Presenter: Dave Brooks

32. Spices of India

A one-of-a-kind Indian cooking lesson that introduces you to the very basics of this diverse cuisine. This lesson will provide you with the platform to be adventurous on your own. Please bring your appetite! Presenter: Noel Bonam

33. Beginning Origami

From Samurai to weddings, origami holds a special place in Japanese culture. In this workshop we will examine the importance of origami and learn to fold various creations. Presenter: Nathan Hall

34. Capoeira Workshop led by Mestre João Cascao

Capoeira is a Brazilian Martial Art that incorporates movement and music to form a conversation in motion between two people. This workshop will introduce basic movements and kicks that form the foundation for the Capoeira "game". Presenter: Mestre João Cascao'

35. Sushi 101

In this hands-on class, join Sushi Chef Paul of Whole Foods Market and learn how to roll sushi to make Japan's favorite "fast food."   All materials provided to create sushi with a variety of fillings. 36. Make your own jewelry!

In this workshop we will travel to Caravan Beads in Portland to make our own beaded jewelry. Make a unique piece for yourself or gifts for friends or family.   Choose from a wide selection of beads from all over the world and get design help from the professionals at Caravan Beads. 37. Youth Rights

Have you ever had your backpack searched? Wondered what to do in conversations with teachers, police, or store owners? So have we. YOUTHINK, working with the ROIL social change theatre group, presents an original performance based on our own experiences about youth rights. A rowdy, youth-led conversation will follow.
