3. How do Real Men and Boys Grieve?

There is no right way to grieve.   Crying, laughing, confusion, anger are a few expressions. Through activities and story explore tools for dealing with loss. Presenters: Volunteers from the Center for Grieving Children

4. Peer to Peer: Cultural Connections

Boys from Prop's Peer Leader Program will lead us in exploring how they balance between their traditional cultural  and that of American Life. Presenter: Pious Ali and Boys from PROP's Peer Leader Program

5. Spin the Bottle: Young People, Media and Alcohol

This workshop will offer a screening of the film Spin The Bottle, which explores the party scene that young adults and teenagers encounter.   We'll look at the cultural images about gender and alcohol and have an interactive discussion about the challenges young people face in making healthy decisions regarding alcohol. 6. Video Camera Field Work

7. Mixed Messages: Learning How to Be a Man

8. Jesus was a Jew: Conversations with Rabbi and a Reverend

11. Alternatives to Violence in Your Community

This workshop will explore creative responses through expression and action to violence in local communities. It will cover examples of youth activism, social justice aspects of the history of hip hop, and community alternatives to incarceration. Presenter: Danny Muller, Peace Action Maine

Let's face it, money helps get things done in our communities. What happens when youth use the power of money to create the communities THEY want? In this fun, youth-led, interactive workshop, YOUTHINK members will introduce you to adventure of "youth philanthropy," where young people like you invest thousands of dollars to help youth and adults make the world a better place.  If you had $1,000 to invest, what would you do with it? What is philanthropy (and why should you care?)? How can you make money work for you and your friends? 16. Exploring the Gender Box

Using film clips and group discussion, we will explore what media and popular culture tell us it takes "to be a man." From "Wuss" and "Fag" to "Jock" and "Stud", these definitions of guys and their behaviors comes from somewhere, and we will get to the bottom of it. Presenter: Jeff Morrill, Boys to Men

17. Law Enforcement: What Teens Need to Know"

It is not unusual for an otherwise "good" kid to come into contact with a law enforcement officer in a criminal or quasi-criminal situation, or to come into contact with school officials in a disciplinary situation.  We'll talk about how to avoid those situations, and how to respond if you find yourself in that position. Presenter: Ned Chester, Chester and Vestal, P.A.

18. Becoming an Artist/Writer in American Culture

In this workshop, writer Ed Schwartz will share some of his challenges in creating art in rural Maine and discuss how he creates his unique oral readings. Participants will have the opportunity to perform some of Ed's works of spoken art.  Presenter: Ed Schwartz
